The Dairy Reviews
We stayed at the Dairy for five nights this year and it was a very enjoyable experience.
We had a large room with a small balcony with views to the mountains. Spectacular!
Bernie and Elspeth looked after us really well and were always available for recommendations
for restaurants, activities etc. Bernie booked several activities for us directly
(including our skydiving, which was excellent) so taking any hassle away. The quality
of the place and the food and the service generally was up there with the best we
experienced in NZ. I would thoroughly recommend this place.
Elspeth and the staff made us feel welcome here from the first moment and made every
effort to make sure we had a perfect stay. This included making us an afternoon
tea tray on our arrival, even though it was after the usual tea-time. Also, making
us breakfast before dawn on the day we started our Routeburn hike. Their restaurant
recommendations were always spot-on. And the breakfasts and afternoon teas (included
in the price) were great, home-cooked food. The guesthouse is laid out in such a
way as to encourage guests to interact - eating breakfast in the dairy, reading
papers in the sitting room, watching tennis in the library. There's also a hot tub
around back and a massive bowl of jellybeans by the front door :)
What can I say about the DAIRY? It is simply a warm, wonderful, pleasant, homey
place to spend 5 days in beautiful Queenstown. The staff were magnificent - Natalia
and Bernie, both knowledgeable about the area, activities, fine dining, places to
shop - they will even book them for you. Every morning, we were treated to home-cooked
breakfasts - we had the warm berry pancakes and scrambled eggs and local bacon every
morning. In the afternoon, home baked scones, date breads, shortbread cookies and
ginger snaps are served from 330pm- 530pm with tea or coffee in front of a roaring
fire. Overall, we had a memory making stay - the rooms were very clean, nicely appointed
with comfortable beds and amazing views of the Remarkables Mountain range. Of added
benefit is the Dairy's location, only a 3 minute walk into town and all amenities
including restaurants, shopping and lake Wakatipu. We will be back!
