Terrace Downs Reviews
Had a very enjoyable stay in one of the golf villas. Room is ultra modern and real
luxury. The double spa -bath was a great way to end a weeks skiing in Canterbury.
We brought our own basic food and cooked so that we made the most of the villa so
I can't really comment on the restaurant in the clubhouse. The location is beautiful;
rooms look out onto the golf course and towards the Alps.
Stayed recently at this wonderful resort, apartments have all amenities you can
expect from a luxury resort, beautiful state of the art fully equipped kitchen,
spacious bathroom with separate shower and huge spa tub. The deco is modern and
it has a brand new feel, fireplace, balcony, dinning/living room all very luxury
appointed. Overall it is a great property, I will stay there again, no doubt!
Fantastic location less than an hour away from Christchurch if you take the direct
route, takes a little longer if you take the more interesting 'Scenic Route'. Clubhouse
very impressive. Warm, relaxed cosy feeling. You don't walk straight in to check-in,
which could be confusing for some. One door leads to seating and a cafe, the other
into the foyer of the restaurant. Huge roaring fire and comfy leather chairs to
rest in when you arrive. Overall, a special place tucked away nicely in the high
country but still close enough to Christchurch. Superb views, great rooms and I'm
told a fabulous golf course - the people we saw playing were having a great time.
We stayed here for a week of skiing at nearby Mt Hutt and had a wonderful time.
As with the other NZ ski fields, there is no on-snow accommodation, so we hired
a car and chose to stay a bit closer to the mountain than Christchurch city. (The
other options are in Methven, and tend to be more basic and a bit closer to Mt Hutt)
The resort is about 20 minutes from the base of the mountain (this part being a
spectacularly scenic drive) then it can take up to 40 minutes to get up the mountain
depending on weather, traffic and road conditions. It's about an hour out of Christchurch.
