Pounamu Apartments Reviews
We stayed at Pounamu in 2009. It is an excellent property with modern, clean, very
comfortable apartments with every imaginable utility in them. The staff is very
friendly, the views of the lake are stunning, and it is within walking distance
to downtown.
We only stayed at Pounamu for four days, during a 3 week visit to NZ, and loved
it. We hope to go back and will stay longer at these lovely apartments. They are
a little bit out of town, and they are on a road; but to be really honest that is
not a real problem. The breath taking view, high standard of the apartments and
the helpful friendliness of the staff make up for the little walk up hill back from
town.
As a traveller to hundreds of places around the globe on both business and pleasure
you occasionally find a few places that really stick in your mind as being the perfect
spot at the perfect time. Pounamu is one of those spots for me. The layout of the
apartment was well thought out- 2 levels. 1st level with balcony, hardwood floors,
big flat panel TV and DVD player (the hotel has a fine assortment of DVDs for that
chance rainy day also) gas fireplace, modern-serviceable kitchen and comfortable
furniture. The second level was the bedroom with wood shuttered doors that can open
the room to the splendid views outside or close off the light for sleeping. The
bath was fantastic with a unique quarry tile soaking tub. A computer and internet
access was included and a shared washing machine/dryer per each two apartments and
covered parking for all. What else could you possibly need? Everything was great
here- if you decide to go to Queenstown you won't regret a stay at Pounamu.
