Great hotel, this was probably the best hotel on our travels - Some nice touches,
you are shown to your room in person - they give you a voucher to have a complimentary
drink at the bar - all very nice. The bar is lovely and the food is first class.
Rooms are fantastic and very big. Beds comfy and big too. Excellent hotel, you will
not be disappointed if you stay here. First class.
I have stayed here before and am very pleased to report that the high standards
are still here. For anyone looking for a Hotel close to the airport and still not
too far from the city this is the best. The service level at reception is welcoming,
friendly and prompt. When in Christchurch the Copthorne remains a great option and
one I will continue to use.
This is most definitely NOT your usual characterless airport vicinity hotel. The
staff were excellent, the rooms and facilities were spacious and comfortable, the
restaurant was a more than pleasant surprise, we have both eaten in many so called
'fine dining' establishments that would not begin to rival this - we ended up eating
there for the duration of our stay due to the high quality of the food. We were
lucky enough to have Pip as our waitress who was impressive with her knowledge and
advice on the extensive wine list. Michael Patterson the general manager was without
a doubt the most approachable and helpful manager we have encountered and even went
so far as to help with the organisation of the rest of our trip and further hotel
accommodation, nothing was too much of a problem. A big thanks to Michael and all
at the Commodore Copthorne for making our stay such a pleasant experience and we
will be back!
