Chateau on the Park Reviews
We loved staying at the Chateau. There are many interesting aspects, eg. the spacious
grounds and lovely gardens and trees, Sebastian the cat (also known as the Manager!),
its quiet location opposite Hagley Park but close enough for easy access to CBD,
railway station and airport. We stayed in a Deluxe room which was quite spacious,
comfortable and clean. The buffet breakfast was fine, we enjoyed excellent dinners
in the restaurant on a couple nights and the wait staff were efficient and friendly.
Parking is free and easy to access. Considering the fairly large size of the hotel,
it has a friendly and warm ambience that is surprising but nice.
We stayed for three nights at the Chateau in Christchurch and can recommend it.
The hotel has a warmth and friendliness that is often lacking in hotels. The decor
is wooden and a feature of the lobby is the long glassed in walkways that have ponds
running alongside them in which ducks and other birds were swimming. Sitting in
the comfy lounges you can watch out the glass windows and feel very relaxed. A character
of the hotel is Sabastian the much-loved cat who is to be seen in the lobby on the
lounge and generally overseeing the hotel activities! We hope others who travel
to Christchurch New Zealand will enjoy this hotel as much as we did!
We enjoyed our 5-night stay at The Chateau. The special little amenities that were
included in our room were very nice to have. Breakfast was ok. The Chateau is extremely
fortunate to have Chris Stirling holding down the Fort. We have travelled to many
places in the World and very few folks can even come close to her professionalism
and kindness. Ask her and it is done!
